Amyris Oil is the naturally occurring essential oil from the wood of the Amyris tree. This
tree is a member of the citrus family but bears no fruit. In the Dominican
Republic, locals use this wood for firewood. Only the dead and dried up wood is
collected from the forest floors, which happens to be the best type of wood for
distillation and helps to maintain the natural forest. No additives, solvents
or chemicals are used at any point of the recovery process. The oil is
recovered through the physical separation process of partial steam
distillation.
It is important to note that Essential oils are extracted from living plants that do
not follow an exact chemical formula or an exact growing pattern; therefore,
each batch of the same oil can vary. Amyris has an aroma that is woody with a
light pepper/ginger high note as well as a light vanilla-like sweetness. Its
aroma is similar to that of the Sandalwood tree and Amyris Oil is often used as
a fixative in fine fragrance formulations.
Amyris Essential Oil is used in a variety of ways. It is most commonly used in soaps, lotions, and perfumery.
