Texas Cedarwood Oil is the naturally occurring essential oil from the wood of the native Texas Cedar tree (Juniperus mexicana/Juniperus ashei). Texas Cedarwood grows in a natural forest in an area of Texas called the Texas Hill Country. There is no commercial planting of Texas Cedarwood and thus no additives, solvents or chemicals are used at any point of the recovery process. The oil is recovered through the physical separation process of partial steam distillation. The Texas Cedar tree is a small shrub-like evergreen tree and tends to be crooked or twisted. This means that it is unsuitable for use in lumber and building materials, unlike our Virginian Cedarwood.
Our Texas Cedarwood Oil is similar to our Virginian Cedarwood Oil but has a more “pencil-like” and smokey notes. It becomes slightly sweet in the dry down.
Texas Cedarwood Essential Oil is used in a variety of ways. It’s readily available in the fragrance industry and is used extensively in soaps, lotions, perfumery, room sprays, and other household products, as well as natural pesticides because of its fixative value.
