Virginian Cedarwood Oil is the naturally occurring essential oil from the wood of the native Texas Red Cedar tree (Juniperus virginiana). Virginian Cedarwood grows in a natural forest in an area of East Texas. There is no commercial planting of Red Cedar and thus no additives, solvents or chemicals are used at any point of the recovery process. The oil is recovered through the physical separation process of partial steam distillation.
Our Virginian Cedarwood Oil is dark red in color with a rich, dry, oily-woody aroma that becomes even drier and sweeter in the dry down. Red Cedar is used primarily for lumber and we collect the by-product for our distillation, which is the powdered wood (sawdust) from local sawmills in our area, from where we source our wood.
Virginian Cedarwood Essential Oil is used in a variety of ways. It is most commonly used
in soaps, lotions, and perfumery, room sprays, and other household products because of its fixative value.
