Continuous Distillation

Our own continuous steam-distillation process, developed in Texas, for a remarkably consistent cedarwood oil.

A Process We Built Ourselves

In a classic batch still, wood is loaded, steamed and emptied one charge at a time. Our continuous process keeps material and steam moving without stopping, so every part of the run sees the same conditions.

Gueric Boucard developed it in the early 1980s, testing the idea in the laboratories of Texas A&I University before building the first unit himself. We have refined and expanded it in Leakey ever since.

What It Means for You

Consistency

A remarkably consistent oil, batch after batch, so a formula that works today works next year.

The softest Texas cedar

Our continuous redistilled oil is the softest, most rounded cedar in our range.

Steady supply

A process that runs continuously, with capacity we have expanded in Leakey over the years.

Your choice of profile

Alongside our batch stills: choose this consistent oil or the traditional Texas profile.

Our Process Stays In-House

The design of our continuous process is our own, and we keep its details in-house. If you need to know more for supplier qualification or an audit, we are glad to talk it through with you directly.
